All Bastard
A downloadable game
In a busy tavern, Heroes from across the realm gather around a table to share tales of their latest Hunt, noblest deeds, and the Bastards that got in their way.
All Bastard is a fantasy tabletop RPG that sees around 3-5 players taking on the role of brave Heroes boasting of their latest adventure. The other players will take it in turns to play the nefarious Bastards that tried to stop them, including the especially deadly Hunt that they are tracking down.
Inside you’ll find:
- Character creation that makes any hero in seconds
- A simple system that keeps the focus on the outlandish stories
- An encounter framework and prompts help with storytelling
- Ways to modify the rules to better fit your group
- A d100 Bastard table
The physical Zine can be purchased from my Ko-Fi store: https://ko-fi.com/s/f3e5cc209a
The wonderful cover art, which I butchered to fit into the Itch Banner, was done by the exceptionally talented Bertdrawsstuff and the font used in it is Kandlestick by Miguel Goz. The internal art comes from Emiel Boven's CC library and is also amazing.
I did this as part of Zine Month 2022 so if you like the sound of my game, you should definitely check out all the other awesome games at https://www.zinemonth.com/.
(*Technically only 10000 unique opponents, but I feel like that's plenty.)

Hi, I'm playing with the hardcopy and have a rules question.
The rules for Skill Checks say this.
"The Bastard also removes the highest dice that is equal to or higher than the Hero's result, this should make the pool more challenging."
It seemed like removing a high dice would make the pool less challenging though. Did I misread it?
Cheers, Jim
I'm fairly certain I was asked this before somewhere and I'm sure I had a reason to remove the highest... but that was a little while ago and I've slept since then.
Youre right though, if you removed either the highest dice equal or lower than the result, or the lowest dice equal or higher, it does sound on paper like it would make more sense. Feel free to do any of the above, I doubt it will unbalance the game too much!
I bought the physical version of this at Dragonmeet today, is there anyway I could get the PDF copy?
Hi, sorry I thought Itch had a DM feature but it seems not. If you want to email me at SamArmstrongGames@outlook.com and I will reply with your PDF. Cheers.
